Where does my money go?

When you choose to make a donation to one of HRF's projects or appeals, you can do so in the safe knowledge that the money that you pledge will be used to help many people in need across the globe.

Examples of where your money will be used are:

1. To bring clean drinking water to a village in desperate need, preventing the risk of infection and the need to walks miles and miles every day just for a basic human right.

2. To help give a family a home again after the destruction of war has left them without shelter.

3. To provide the elderly with the care and attention that they deserve. With your help, we can help get them the medication and treatment that they need.

4. To help families less fortunate than ourselves still enjoy the religious festivals such as Eid and Ramadhan

success stories

HRF have managed to help thousands of people world wide, and could not have done it without the help and support of it's donors and volunteers, so thank you. Here are some 'success stories'.

1. Last year HRF distributed 175000 Kilograms of meat to the poor and needy families throughout the world which means that approximately 1200 families benefited and enjoyed the blessings of Eid

2. Our volunteers keep on running! One of them, Mr Ali, ran the London and Edinburgh Marathons. He raised over £5,000 for the orphans in Iraq and Kashmir.

3. Over the last 3 years we've spent over £1 million in the Muzaffarabad region of Kashmir. We're continuing to support communities in this area, and we're in it for the long term.

Please donate today, and help us create more sucess stories.

Doctors Training Course...(see Training programme)

In Iraq, a country of 28 million people, war, sanctions and occupation have contributed in denying its population from basic health services to a complete disintegration of its health system and the degradation of most hospitals that these people so desperately need.

Approximately 5000 medical staff has fled Iraq since the turmoil began in 2003. Those remaining have limited resources and knowledge due to the chaotic and political instability that prevents these doctors from seeking further knowledge and gaining necessary skills. The need in Iraq for qualified medical specialists is more than ever as there are hundreds of casualties on a daily basis with many being children incurring horrific injuries.

Objectives

In response to this unfortunate situation and with the aim of training and benefiting as many doctors as possible, the Human Relief Foundation (HRF) in conjunction with various UK National Health Service (NHS) consultants and specialists, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, a series of seven intensive medical training courses were put together and successfully executed. The first course was held in December 2007 in the city of Damascus in Syria and a further six in the city of Istanbul in Turkey with the latest held in June 2009. HRF arranged for the medical professionals and tutors to travel from the UK to Syria and Turkey to train tens of Iraqi medical doctors and paramedics whose trip from Iraq had also been arranged by HRF.

The Course

HRF through its wide range of connections with various NHS hospitals, medical centres and doctors in the UK and abroad cooperated in providing the tutors and the medical materials for the training courses. The courses covered various aspects of medicine and medical practices advancements that are currently not available in Iraq. These courses enabled the Iraqi participants to be introduced to up-to-date medical practices, state of the art medical equipment, and also presented a valuable opportunity to be introduced to some of the most prominent research medical centres in the UK.

The analysis and evaluation of the surveys conducted by HRF indicated that courses were highly valued by the participants for the information given and the practical aspects associated with it. HRF is delighted to have been able to EXCEED its GOALS with the help of its SPONSORS & DONORS. HRF SUCCESSFULLY MANAGED TO TRAIN MORE IRAQI MEDICAL DOCTORS AND PROFESSIONALS THAN WHAT IT HAD AIMED FOR. They will bring valuable knowledge and skills to their institutions in Iraq.

Goal for 2010

Further training programmes are also planned for 2010 depending on the availability of adequate support and funds

HRF is pleading to you to carry on donating so that it can carry on implementing these programmes that would save thousands of lives. Please help us to carry on providing fundamental services to the people of Iraq.
