Sponsoring an orphan can cost less than 84p a day! Your money will help to buy food, water, education, shelter, healthcare and clothing for a child in need. In 2008 we distributed over 175,000 kg of meat to poor people in need. That's a whole lot of meat. And a whole lot of people benefited - around 35,000 families were able to enjoy the blessings of the Muslim festival of Eid. Our 2008 worldwide Ramadhan programme had a huge impact. We were able to help thousands of needy people in more than 15 of the world's poorest countries. Over the last 3 years we've spent over �1 million in the Muzaffarabad region of Kashmir. We're continuing to support communities in this area - and we're in it for the long term. Our volunteers keep on running! One of them, Mr Ali, ran the London and Edinburgh Marathons. He raised over �5,000 for the orphans in Iraq and Kashmir. We need almost �10,000 for a water plant in a rural village in Gujrat, Pakistan. It's a small price to pay to give over 3,000 residents the basic human right of access to clean drinking water.
